Vacancy: Delivery Team Lead

Salary: £45,000-£50,000 + benefits

Location: Remote. Ideally candidates would be able to travel to our Birmingham (UK) office once or twice a month, but this is not essential.

Working hours: Monday to Friday, (we’re happy to discuss flexible working hours)

We are looking for an experienced, supportive and technically-literate person to join us as our new Delivery Team Lead.

Reporting directly to our Head of Operations, this new role will be responsible for providing proactive and individualised line management for our delivery team.

They will be responsible for making sure the team understands what they are doing, why they are doing it, how they are doing it, and when it needs to be done.

They will also have responsibility for reviewing and, where appropriate, improving documentation and internal communication processes around our delivery working practices.

The ideal candidate for this will be an experienced people manager, they will have experience managing large, interdisciplinary teams and they will have experience working closely with developers, analysts and designers, ideally in an agency environment.

Key responsibilities:

  • Ensure that each member of the team has an individual development plan to support their professional development and receives proactive line management.

  • Working closely with our Head of Operations and our Studio Resource Manager to ensure effective utilisation of the team, inputting into the scheduling and resourcing of the team accordingly across our services; projects, support, product and consultancy.

  • Ensuring the team understands what they are doing, why they are doing it, how they are doing it, and when it needs to be done. Including:

    • Ensuring that scheduled work is clearly communicated and understood
    • Ensuring that the delivery team have the information, context, tools, and relationships needed to deliver the work they are responsible for
    • Following agreed development practices & processes
    • Ensuring documentation is produced and maintained
    • Ensuring that work is produced to the required standards
    • Producing reports and monitoring planned versus actual utilisation of the team
    • Ensuring issues are understood and, when necessary, escalated effectively

Attributes of the ideal candidate:

  • Emotionally intelligent
  • Interested in and motivated by building and maintaining positive working culture
  • Experienced people manager who is motivated by helping people do their best work
  • Comfortable and familiar with the internal dynamics of a busy agency
  • Technically literate (must have experience working closely with developers and on technical projects)
  • Interested in and comfortable with the considerations that will impact the work of our designers
  • Comfortable with detail, and maintaining processes
  • Proactive problem solver (identifies and mitigates issues before they become a big problem)
  • Experienced with project timelines and able to work with changing priorities
  • Comfortable with providing regular employee feedback, being a ‘critical friend’ and resolving challenging situations when needed.
