New Managing Director and Head of Strategy

Author: Andy Hartwell

It’s an exciting time here at Substrakt. We are in our 13th year of trading, expanding rapidly and busier than ever, working hard to deliver high quality websites across the arts and cultural sector.

We are thrilled to work in partnership with some of the most prestigious and forward-thinking organisations in the UK. And more recently we have been building our reputation in North America, working with similarly high calibre clients presenting us with new and exciting challenges.

I have been Managing Director of Substrakt since founding the company in 2006. Alongside this role I launched Substrakt Health Ltd in 2015 and Creating Impakt Ltd earlier this year.

Ash Mann joined Substrakt as Strategic Director in 2016 and has been instrumental to our continued progress and success over the last few years. His knowledge and understanding of the potential of digital, combined with his ambition, passion and leadership skills have helped to drive the team forward.  Ash has built valuable partnerships with our clients, allowing us to produce some of our best work ever.

Consequently, I am delighted to announce today that we have decided to appoint Ash as Managing Director of Substrakt, and I will support him as Executive Chairman. I have no doubt that Ash is the right person for this role, and I am supremely confident in his ability to continue to drive the company forward.  The quality of our work and the strength of our client relationships are in very safe hands. I will still have a very active role in company strategy – as well as all the fun parts like finances, legals and HR.

To ensure Substrakt continues to offer the highest quality strategic insight across all our projects for the benefit of our growing client base, I’m very pleased to announce that we’ve appointed Caspian Turner, to start as our new Head of Strategy in July.  Cas will be joining us from Tessitura where he has worked since 2016, specialising in web implementations (in his time at Tessitura he worked on over 20 web implementations), and TNEW in particular.  Prior to that he worked at the Southbank Centre (focused on CRM, and Tessitura in particular), before which he was at Glyndebourne Festival Opera (leading on a number of digital projects, including two website redevelopments).

Cas brings a wealth of industry knowledge and insight to the Substrakt team, as well as a keen understanding of the opportunities and challenges posed by technology which will directly benefit the organisations we work with and their audiences. We’re looking forward to having him on board.

It is hugely rewarding to see more than a decade of hard work paying off, partnering with such exciting clients, and growing a team of some of the best people I’ve worked with. I can’t wait to see where we can take this together over the next 13 years.
