Substrakt are looking for a talented PHP developer to join the team full-time. Development work will largely be focussed on exciting new web projects in the Cultural sector and with existing clients including English National Opera, Wales Millennium Centre, Waddesdon Manor and Birmingham Hippodrome.

You’ll join a tight-knit team developers, building websites and cloud-based web applications deployed via Heroku, DigitalOcean and Amazon Web Services.

We plan our projects without getting bogged down in management terminology, so you’ll get to write code straight away. However, we will expect you to have a clear handle on defining technical requirements and a keen eye for user-experience and user-interface.

We use an OOP approach within the WordPress framework, adopting the DRY principle as much as possible. We include TTD and automation in our projects. Knowledge of Git is a must.

Solid working knowledge of HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript very desirable. It would be advantageous if you are familiar with Vagrant, provisioning tools like Ansible, and continuous deployment via Heroku and AWS.

You’ll be joining a passionate, committed and knowledgeable team of developers and UX designers. We’re actively involved in the community and always looking to open source aspects of our codebase. We’re predominantly based in Birmingham, but we also have a growing office in London.
