Kicking-off with Project Art Works

We’ve recently started work on a new website for Project Art Works (PAW), an organisation based in Hastings who do some exceptional work.

“Project Art Works is an artist-led organisation. We work with children, young people and adults who have complex needs alongside families, carers and professionals, on a wide range of creative projects.
Our work aspires to excellence in contemporary visual art and demonstrates the positive impact of personalised approaches to social and cultural inclusion. We promote best practice through a ground-breaking programme of collaboration across the UK.”

We headed down by train a couple of weeks ago, taking in the stunning sights of the High Weald Area  en route. We kicked off proceedings with a user-focussed workshop, spending a morning going through exercises that help us get a sense of the PAW audiences and ambitions. In addition we looked at internal organisational requirements, agreeing objectives for ensuring the website’s success.

One of the biggest user experience and interface challenges will be clearly representing PAW’s two aspects of work. In terms of the quality of contemporary art they deserve to be represented on this merit alone. Balanced with this is the incredible programmes and support they offer to the groups they work with. It’s the sort of challenge we thrive on.

They were in fairly desperate need for a new website so to tide them over we created a one page site that introduces their online visitors to the organisation by using the content from their active Instagram account and Vimeo channel.

We’re really enjoying working on a rewarding project for such a worthwhile organisation.

Check back in a few months to see the finished result.
