Introducing Katie Moffat, our new Head of Sector Engagement for Europe

Author: Kathryn Mason

We’re very excited to welcome Katie Moffat to the team, as our new Head of Sector Engagement for Europe.

This newly-created role marks the third Head of Sector Engagement position we have recruited for over recent months. With dedicated people operating in North America, Australasia and (soon to be) Europe, we hope to continue expanding our global offering, increasing our international client base, and strengthening our relationships with existing clients.

With over 15 years experience providing digital support and expertise to cultural and heritage organisations, Katie will bring invaluable knowledge, perspectives and relationships to this role as she focuses on nurturing our European market.

“Katie’s thoughtful and insightful expert perspective is one I’ve long admired”, says our Managing Director Ash. “I’m really looking forward to working closely with her as we continue to build on recent successes and provide the best, most impactful digital products, advice and services to the cultural organisations we partner with”.

Katie joins us from The Audience Agency, where in her role as Head of Digital she has supported cultural organisations of all shapes and sizes with their digital strategies – helping them to develop effective ways to use digital tools and technologies to reach, grow and diversify their audiences.

Prior to this, Katie worked as an independent consultant where she helped clients with their digital strategy development, online community building, audience development, digital marketing campaigns, project mentoring, analytics audits and training workshops.

Alongside providing bespoke consultancy work Katie is an experienced trainer, regularly running workshops and webinars. She has been a National Lottery Heritage Fund registered digital consultant for three years and was recently a mentor as part of the Arts Marketing Association’s Digital Lab programme.  Katie is a contributing author to the ‘Manual of Digital Museum Planning’ and Vice-Chair of digital pioneers Abandon Normal Devices.

For five years Katie has written a popular fortnightly newsletter, The Digital Snapshot, which is frequently cited as a ‘must-read’ and is shared widely across the arts and culture sector.

Katie says she’s “admired Substrakt for many years for the high quality of their work and the way they support the sector with insights, advice and excellent events. I’m really excited to be joining the team and looking forward to working closely with arts organisations across the UK and mainland Europe to understand their challenges and help provide effective digital solutions and consultancy services.”

Katie’s wealth of experience and expertise makes her a brilliant fit for this role. “I’m incredibly excited to have her join the team”, says Ash, “I know she’ll be brilliant”.

We can’t wait for Katie to get started with us at the end of July.
