A leadership update as Ash and Andy step into new roles
17 years ago this month, Substrakt started life in the Custard Factory in Digbeth with our founder Andy Hartwell.
Since then we have grown to become an international business with over 70 brilliant arts and culture clients across Europe and North America.
Over the past couple of years in particular, we’ve experienced a significant amount of expansion in both our team and client base as we continue to grow and deepen the range of specialist products and services we’re offering the cultural sector.
With the creation of new senior roles in Client Engagement, Business Operations, Sector Strategy, Client Experience and Delivery, accompanied by our recently announced advisory board, we’re now ready to make some further structural changes as part of a new route forward for the company’s leadership.
Ash, who has been Substrakt’s Managing Director since 2018, will be stepping into a new Executive Director role. He will focus on work outside of our current, core day-to-day offer such as our ‘Venues of the Future’ R&D project, the Digital Works programme, and the soon-to-launch ‘Substrakt Labs’, while continuing to nurture sector partnerships and help shape our company strategy. Ash will also be moving to Sweden to lead on establishing Substrakt’s presence in Scandinavia.
Substrakt’s founder Andy will be taking on a new Chief Executive Officer role, leading the company to make sure our larger and more complex business is run as effectively as possible.
Ash and Andy will continue to work closely together, as they have done for the last seven years. With the new leadership team and advisory board in place, everyone at Substrakt is excited to continue supporting the cultural sector with its digital ambitions.
